AFTER months of training and special diets, the winner of this year’s Ironman triathlon was given a tasty treat by Bolton’s Ye Olde Pastie Shoppe.
Jersey’s Dan Halksworth defended his UK Ironman title, completing the 2.4-mile swim at Pennington Flash, a 112-mile bike race through Lancashire, and a 26.2-mile run to Bolton town centre in eight hours and 45 minutes.
And to celebrate his efforts, Ye Olde Pastie Shoppe in Churchgate rustled him up a special prize, a pastie with a pastry “Ironman” on it.
Posting a picture of it on Twitter, he said: “My very own Ironman pastie made by Ye Olde Pastie Shop in Bolton . . . amazing!”
