A MURDER investigation has been launched after a Bolton man was found dead in a car park in Gloucester.

Victor McDermot, aged 44, originally from Halliwell, was found dead by a pedestrian in Quay Street, Gloucester, at 8.15am on Thursday, November 28.

Tributes have been paid by friends to Mr McDermot, who is thought to have moved to Cardiff several years ago for work.

Two men have been charged with his murder and appeared at Cheltenham Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

Andrew Harling, aged 44, of Weston Road, Gloucester, and Simon Boswell, aged 48, of no fixed abode, were charged on Saturday and have been remanded in custody.

Mr McDermot was found by officers stripped to the waist, just 100 yards away from Gloucester’s city centre police station in Bearland.

He was still well-known in Halliwell, and was a former pupil of St Cuthbert’s RC school.

Gloucestershire Police have confirmed that two family members have been contacted.

Despite having no known current address, it is not thought Mr McDermot was homeless.

The details of Mr McDermot’s death are not yet known, with post-mortem examinations still being carried out.

On Facebook, Derek Price, from Manchester, said: “Sad night, just found out a mate has died! I’m so shocked, R. I. P. Victor.”

Another, Linda Miller, added: “I’m in shock how so-called human beings can do this to such a nice, genuine guy. I’m lost for words seriously! Rip xxx.”

Three other people, a 31-year-old man, a 45-year-old man and a 45-year-old woman, were also initially arrested on suspicion of murder but have been released without charge.
