THE stunning beauty of one of Bolton’s most prominent buildings has been captured by Bolton Digital Photographic Society.

Members captured these unusual and striking images of Bolton Parish Church.

Secretary of the group, Phil Wood, said: “We all notice Bolton Parish Church from that end of town and passing by on St Peter’s Way.

“We can see that it is a large and impressive building, but it is only when you get close to it that you see the wealth of detail.”

As well as capturing the church building, photographers also snapped religious and secular objects in the museum corner.

Mr Wood said: “I rather liked the weather cock, which is pretty large when you see it close to. The stained glass windows look as wonderful from the outside at night as they do inside on a sunny day.

“Our six members were grateful to the church for this opportunity to see it on a dark night.”

The society has a practical activity every month where photographers meet to take photographs of a place, a thing or in a style.

Members took shots of Bolton Parish Church inside and out, the view along the aisle, the ceiling, the painted organ pipes, carvings and the objects in the museum area.

The building was illuminated by its own lights and Stephen Dutch presented a framed photograph to Cllr John Walsh as a thank you to the church for its permission.
