A PUB is hoping to bring some festive cheer to poorly youngsters. The Bay Mare in Blackburn Road, Sharples, is running a selection box appeal — and will deliver donated chocolates to children at Royal Bolton Hospital.

The annual appeal is being supported by the Mayor of Bolton, the Town Mayors of Horwich and Blackrod. Anyone wishing to donate a selection box should drop it off at the pub.

That's a really kind sentiment, but just because children are in hospital over Christmas doesn't mean they won't get any presents. And some of them won't even be able to enjoy chocolate. I think it's much better to donate to children who won't get anything.
