FIREFIGHTERS were called after concerns that candles left unattended could start a blaze.
A neighbour saw what was believed to be a fire in the hall of a house in Green Avenue, Great Lever, on Friday at 6.30pm and called firefighters.
Crews from Bolton Central fire station were sent and got into the house at the back.
They discovered the burning candle was not in a holder and could have burnt through a window frame. Another unattended candle was found in a bedroom.
The home owner returned while firefighters were there. He was given advice and a safety check was carried out.
