Anthony Grainger's family 'disappointed' that no police officers to be prosecuted over fatal shooting

The Bolton News: Anthony Grainger Anthony Grainger

THE family of Anthony Grainger are said to be “bitterly” disappointed no charges are being brought against any officers.

They spoke after the Crown Prosecution Service announced its decision to to prosecute Greater Manchester Police.

Solicitor Jonathan Bridge, a partner at Farleys Solicitors, representing Mr Grainger’s family, Marina and John Schofield, said they were be pleased with the Crown Prosecution Service’s decision to charge Ch Cons Peter Fahy but were disappointed more serious charges had not been brought.

He added the family still feel in the dark about the day the 36-year-old was shot and have not seen the Independent Police Complaints Commission’s report into the events that led to his death.

A spokesman, on behalf of Mr Grainger’s family, said: “Whilst we are pleased that some charges are to be brought as a result of Anthony’s death we are bitterly disappointed that the officer that shot Anthony will not face criminal proceedings.

“We have not yet had sight of the IPCC report and reserve our position until we have had the chance to fully consider the IPCC’s investigation.”

A armed man gets all the publicity in London but a unarmed Man from Bolton gets none. How does that work?
