A YOUTH theatre group has helped a Rotary Club president fulfil a fundraising pledge.

CATS Youth theatre, based at the Theatre Dance Studios in Halliwell Business Park, performed at the first meeting of the year for the Westhoughton Rotary Club at Brookfield Masonic Hall.

The club’s president Arthur Price had resolved to help Lagan’s Foundation, a charity dedicated to supporting parents of children with heart defects or feeding difficulties, when he assumed the role.

The meeting, which saw 100 guests enjoy more than an hour of solos, duets and group performances of songs from musicals, raised £550 for the Lagan’s Foundation.

Mr Price presented a cheque to Carren Bell, founder of Lagan’s, and said: “When we agreed to hold this fundraising event we decided to guarantee success by inviting CATS members to perform.

“CATS Youth Theatre has been entertaining local audiences, including our Rotary Club, since 1994. Congratulations to all the performers on an entertaining and professional show.”
