A MUSICAL star has returned to his roots to perform in a production of Beauty and the Beast.
Joe Shovelton, who was born in Leigh and was once a member of St Joseph’s Players, has returned to his former club to help stage the story, playing the part of the Queen.
He left to study at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London and has since performed principally with the D’Oyly Carte Opera Company.
He has also appeared as Snout in A Midsummer Night’s Dream for Opera North. Beauty and the Beast, by Doreen Johnson, is on from tomorrow until Saturday at St Joseph’s Hall, Chapel Street, Leigh. Phone 01942 673481 or 01942 671354 to check times and for tickets.
