A BOLTON MP has pledged to push for more help for Bolton’s pubs after receiving an award as a “Beer Champion”

Jullie Hilling, who represents Bolton West, was recently presented with the prize from the British Beer and Pub Association (BBPA), the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) and the Society of Independent Brewers (SIBA) for her work in helping to secure last year’s historic cut in beer duty in the Budget.

Ms Hilling has also joined colleagues in Parliament in backing local pubs across Britain by voting to introduce a new code to support small landlords and give consumers greater choice.

“An estimated 26 pubs are closing each week in Britain and the large chains of pub companies (PubCos) are giving landlords a raw deal, with many paying over the odds for their alcoholic products,” she said.
