BOLTON people are being urged to commemorate Holocaust Memorial Day by Bolton West MP Julie Hilling who has signed the Book of Commitment in the House of Commons placed there by the Holocaust Educational Trust.
Monday will mark the 69th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau, the Nazi concentration and extermination camp which is the site of the largest mass murder in history.
Ms Hilling, who has commemorated those who lost their lives in the atrocity in Parliament, said: “Holocaust Memorial Day marks the anniversary of the liberation of the Nazi concentration and death camp and is an important opportunity to remember the victims and survivors of the Holocaust. I encourage all constituents to mark the day and to join members of the Bolton community in the fight against prejudice and intolerance.
“Attending the House of Commons Book of Commitment signing is always very moving and gives us the opportunity to reflect on the atrocities committed by the Nazis and the challenges they still present in our day.”
