MANCHESTER United defender Phil Bardsley is the latest player to be linked with a move to the Reebok.

The 21-year-old from Salford was lined up for a loan move to Sunderland but that deal has mysteriously stalled, prompting sources on Wearside to claim that the player is in talks with Sam Allardyce Wanderers have refused to comment on the reports or on speculation that they are ready to mount a £5m bid for West Ham's unsettled midfield player and captain, Nigel Reo-Coker.

Assistant manager Sammy Lee confirmed that Allardyce was actively pursuing potential signings in this month's transfer window.

"The big man never stops," Lee said. "Right up to the final minute of the deadline, he'll be trying to work at strengthening what we've already got."

Blackburn Rovers are also said to be keen on Bardsley, who recently returned from a loan spell at Rangers, where he made seven appearances.

Wanderers' Premiership game against Blackburn Rovers at the Reebok has been re-arranged and will be played on Sunday, March 4 (ko 1.35pm) after being selected for live broadcast by Sky Sports.

Wanderers U18s will play on Sunderland at the Stadium of Light next Wednesday in the fourth round of the FA Youth Cup (kick off 7pm).
