POLICE in Bolton are urging people to register expensive Christmas gifts with a free service.
The website immobilise.com allows people to record the details of all their valuable items such as televisions and bicycles, or any item with a serial number.
If the property is lost, stolen or even destroyed in a fire and it is registered on Immobilise.com then users will have a stored list of all their valuable possessions, making it easier to make insurance claims and report it to the police.
A police spokesman said: "We want to encourage everyone to register their property by logging on to the website. If valuables aren't registered and we are unable to find the rightful owners, they may eventually have to be destroyed."
