GREATER Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) recently transmitted live video feeds to demonstrate how to fight fires.
The service has used Google and YouTube to share live video footage from incidents, including a live video feed from a large-scale fire at a recycling plant in Salford to the central command hub at GMFRS headquarters.
YouTube Live enables GMFRS to share footage from the scene of an incident with colleagues anywhere in Greater Manchester using the Service’s brand new Command Unit.
Paul Argyle, assistant county fire officer and director of emergency response at GMFRS, said: “At this stage it’s just an idea we’ve been trialling, but it’s something we haven’t been able to do before and it has fantastic benefits and is absolutely free.”
