PARENTS of children at Devonshire Primary School do more than just drop off their children at the gates — they are made to feel part of the school.
And the school in Heaton has been awarded the Leading Parent Partnership Award for the excellent work it does with mums and dads.
A coffee morning was held to celebrate receiving the award, with parents enjoying a cuppa with staff.
Head teacher Pam Barnes said: “The coffee morning was our way of thanking parents for their continued support, which helped us gain the Leading Parent Partnership Award.
“This is a national award and we had to provide evidence that we worked in partnership with our parents; helping them to support their children at school.
“Some of our governors also attended as it was a great way for them to meet and talk to parents.
“Our special guest was teacher Vicky Foy, who led the bid for the award and who is now on maternity leave.
“She brought in baby Emmy and all the parents were delighted to meet her.”
