ST ANDREW’S Church pinnacle is set to rise from the rubble next week as workmen move in to start repairs at the storm-damaged building.
A pinnacle on the tower of the Ramsbottom church was destroyed in a freak lightning strike on July 23 last year, sending huge lumps of masonry crashing through the roof of the building.
Insurers have now agreed plans to repair the damage, which will cost an estimated £450,000, and builders are due to start the work, which includes piecing together salvaged stone from the damaged pinnacle and rebuilding it.
The repairs are expected to take 28 weeks, with church members hoping to take up residence again in November. Progress can be followed on the at connectstandrews.
