WESTHOUGHTON’S new mayor has been formally appointed.
Cllr Kevan Jones, a Bolton borough councillor for Westhoughton South, will succeed Cllr Christopher Peacock as mayor for 2014-15.
Conservative Cllr Lynda Winrow-Baker has been appointed deputy mayor, succeeding Cllr Jones in the role.
It is expected that she will be the mayor for 2015-16. The decisions were formally made at a planning meeting of Westhoughton Town Council.
Cllr Jones will be formally dedicated as mayor at Westhoughton Parish Church on Sunday, May 18.
