A WOMAN who helped to sell heroin to an undercover police officer has been given a suspended prison sentence at Bolton Crown Court.
Mum-of-two Catherine O’Gorman, pleaded guilty to supplying heroin on April 10 last year.
The court heard she had been with her partner, Daniel Dawson when they met the officer behind Brackley Street, Farnworth.
David Lees, prosecuting, said Dawson, who has since been jailed for three years and four months for drug-dealing, did the talking and took £20 from the officer, who was working as part of Operation Maxima, while O’Gorman handed over two wraps of heroin.
Virginia Hayton, defending, said O’Gorman, aged 37, of St James Street, Farnworth, now has a more stable life living with her mother and has freed herself from using heroin.
She said: “She is firm in her determination to remain drug free and be a good mother.” Judge Elliot Knopf sentenced O’Gorman to 16 months in jail, suspended for two years and ordered that she be subject to an electronically tagged curfew from 8pm to 6am each day for four months.
He told her: “I am prepared to give you an opportunity.”
