BOSSES of a ducting firm brought in to carry out work on Bolton Town Hall have spoken of their pride at being asked to help revamp the historic building.

Sister operations Pure Vent Ltd and Pure Fabs Ltd, run by directors Adam Taylor and Steven Hulme, recently landed a six-figure deal to supply and install ductwork as part of building work being carried out by ISG.

“It’s nice for a Bolton firm run by a couple of Bolton lads, employing Bolton people, making and supplying ductwork in the town to be asked to do the work,” said 37-year-old Mr Taylor.

“It’s an interesting project because all the ductwork will be on show and has to be installed to a very high standard.

“Bolton Town Hall is a big old building and it’s listed, so it was always going to be quite challenging.”

Mr Taylor and Mr Hulme launched their companies after they were made redundant from a local environmental contractor several years ago.

The sister companies, based at Watermead Works in Slater Lane, Bolton, now have a combined turnover of about £2 million and employ a total of 35 people, including sub contractors.

The firm also supplies and installs ductwork for one of Manchester and Liverpool’s biggest commercial landlords, Bruntwood.

“It was quite difficult, being made redundant,” said Mr Taylor, “but Steve and I discussed striking out on our own, and, luckily, the firm which let us go agreed to use us, so we had a decent start.

“Starting a new company in a recession was quite daunting at first, but we have gone from strength to strength and we are looking to take on project engineers.”
