A WHEELIE bin was set alight at a block of flats in Atherton in a suspected arson attack.
The bin was torched just two metres from a building in Bag Lane on May 8.
Fire crews attended at about 1pm.
The bin was destroyed but nobody was hurt.
The fire service believe the blaze was started deliberately.
A fire service spokesman said: “The wheelie bin was totally destroyed and it had been melted right down to the floor.
“If it had been closer to the building the consequences may have been completely different.”
