THREE convicted criminals who went on the run from police are back behind bars today after being identified from pictures published The Bolton News and this website.

Police released four pictures on Tuesday in the hope members of the public would help track the men down.

Ddealer Lee Richardson, and violent thugs, Kieran Jackson and Carl Buckley, are now back where they belong - in prison serving the rest of their sentences.

Police are still hunting a fourth man. Brendan Carney, a burglar and drug addict who is believed to be at large in the Bolton area.

Sgt Kevin Lister from Bolton Police, said: "We had a number of calls from the public which helped us trace these men. We are still appealing for information regarding Brendan Carney."

Carney, aged 33, was sentenced at Bolton Crown Court to three years for offences that included burglary, aggravated taking of a motor vehicle and assault. Since his release on licence, just before Christmas 2006, he has become a wanted man after breaching the terms of his parole.

Drug dealer Lee Richardson, aged 36, turned him self into police on Tuesday after seeing The Bolton News appeal. He was arrested in Great Lever at 2.55pm.

Richardson was arrested in October, 2004, in Daubhill in possession of more than 30 wraps of heroin.

He was sentenced to three years imprisonment at Bolton Crown Court on July 4, 2005, for possession of class A drugs with intent to supply. He absconded from Kirkham open prison, near Blackpool, on September 22 last year.

Kieran Jackson, aged 21, was arrested at an address in Halliwell on Wednesday at noon, following anonymous tip-offs from the public. He was sentenced to 27 months in jail on June 14, 2005, after pleading guilty to theft and assault.

With an accomplice, he stripped a man naked, shaved his body and daubed him with green paint after first stealing his mobile phone.

He was released from prison on November 23 last year on licence when he had a further nine months of his sentence to serve.

Carl Buckley, aged 28, was arrested at 9.30pm in Westhoughton on Thursday, following information from the public.

He was released from prison on licence on July 27 last year. He had been sentenced at Bolton Crown Court on December 23, 2005, to 18 months for assault.

He punched another man in the face, giving him a black eye and a chipped tooth, in Westhoughton on August 26, 2005.

The three men were relased from prison early on licence. Those licences have now been revoked and they are back behind bars.
