A 44-YEAR-OLD man suffered a catalogue of injuries after being attacked in a road rage incident.

The victim is in hospital after the attack on Saturday outside a pizza shop in Bridgewater Road, Walkden.

The incident happened shortly after the man had a near miss with a black car while crossing the road, and words were exchanged between him and the driver at about 9.30pm.

The man carried on walking and made his way to the pizza shop, where he was attacked while waiting outside.

He suffered a number of injuries including a broken nose and fractured cheekbone.

Det Con Will Hardman said: “The victim cannot remember what his attacker looked like as he lost consciousness during the assault.

"What he does know is that he was hit from behind and fell heavily onto the pavement.

“He is still in hospital following facial surgery as he suffered a broken nose, fractured wrist, fractured cheekbone, lost teeth and cuts and bruises.

“From what we have been told, the car may have been a black saloon, possibly a Mercedes.

“We do not know whether the incident involving the car is linked to this attack but I would urge anyone who may have witnessed one or both incidents to contact us so we can piece together what happened that night.”
