'We're on your side,' Prime Minister tells people of Bolton

The Bolton News: 'We're on your side,' Prime Minister tells people of Bolton 'We're on your side,' Prime Minister tells people of Bolton

PRIME Minister David Cameron has written to Bolton residents to say pension reform will mean a more secure retirement for residents.

The Queen’s speech on Wednesday laid out the government’s shake-up of the pension system, which ends the need to buy an annuity and gives 300,000 people every year to access their pensions as they would like.

Mr Cameron, pictured, said: “At the moment, when you retire, most people have to buy an annuity, which controls when and how you get your pension.

"We are changing that, meaning you can spend what you have saved for retirement as you see fit. You’ve earned it, you’ve saved it, you can decide what to do with it.

"And these changes are going to make a massive difference in Bolton, where it’s estimated that in 20 years’ time, over one in five people will be of state pension age.

“My message to the people of Bolton is clear — if you have worked hard and planned for the future, we are on your side.”

Does not seem as if any one is on my side, I had my 60th birthday last year and found out I will be age 64 years before I can claim state pension due to change of rules. This also means no bus pass until the same time. How is this fair when I have worked from age 15 years, paid tax and national insurance all my working life. It really makes me irate when I get on a bus and see people of all ages who have obviously not been born in this country and mostly never worked getting on the bus and showing a pass of some description. The laws in this country stink and so do a lot of the people. Bitter and some!.

More patronising claptrap.

Mr. Cameron, you are not on the side of the poor , the low paid, the sick, and the homeless.

You, who repeatedly claim to be a Christian, are crucifying them for ideological reasons.

You, for the benefit of your pals in big business, are destroying all our public services on which the most vulnerable in our society depend.

You are destroying our National Health Service in order to hand it over to your pals in private health care insurance.

You are destroying our police and probation services and handing them over to criminals -literally.

You are destroying social cohesion by privatising our schools, and ghettoising children on the basis of religion, race, sexuality, and socio-economic staus.

You sir, are doing what Hitler failed to do.

You are turning members of society against each other, by increasing inequaity and poverty, whilst your friends in the banking industry prosper.

Your Big Society is a sham, and a con trick.

You and your friends in big business are a disgrace to the very idea of a Christian society.

And your policies are an insult to those who died in WWs 1 and 2.

" Doing what Hitler failed to do..." " Turning members of society against each other.." Puffin-Billy you really do need to go and have a lie down somewhere quiet and relaxing. I am not a particular fan of Mr Cameron's but there will always be some level of inequality, injustice, unfairness in society. By and large i think most of us have a reasonable standard of living in this country. I guess with you mentioning Christianity a couple of times you are coming from a religious perspective. If that is the case forgiveness and understanding, patience and tolerance might be worth a look. Your anger really will do you no good at all. Look where this country was a couple of hundred years ago and the gap between rich and poor then and how things have improved for the vast majority. A little balanced perspective is called for.

British people want a fair wage, fair taxes, decent health care and a good retirement.

Instead we are paying more and getting less.

Same with all these people from Pakistan and India who seem to enjoy breaking the law. If I broke the law abroad id expect to be deported.

What a patronising and clueless idiot this PM really is. Creeping for votes for next years GE - no chance Cameron. All you and your mob are concerned with is the south-east and London centric status.

The fact of the matter is the more people have worked hard and saved hard the more they get shafted right up the jacksey. It's fine for us to pay in to the system, but when the indiginous people need to fall back upon benefits they have to leap through hurdles, reams of paperwork designed to put you off and give up, but those who are coming here from what are p155 p00r european countries, they are given ridiculous sums of money WITHOUT contributing a penny.

Don't try and say that this is rubbish. Remember the people who work in these benefits offices see what is going on, are ordinary people and are willing to let the rat out of the sack to let us mere mortals know of what's what.

I've absolutely no time for you, your Tory crony friends nor those numb skulls the Lib Dems, who it would appear would sell their granny and her false teeth for the mere sniff of something like power.

Every bugger that gets on the bus flashes some kind of free pass, and they are not necessarily pensioners some are young people they just mumble in a foreign tongue and show a slip of paper, whilst my journey costs four quid return. There is a similar scenario at the doctors when one has to fork out nearly nine quid for a prescription. This is all spin from Cameron because he wants another term in office but thinks that people are too daft to see it, he will do nothing for the working classes of Bolton as history had proved.

Quoting your particular line: They have always upped vat too going right back to John Major.

They did it prior to Major being in office. When Margaret Snatcher was in office her mob upped VAT from 5% to 8%, added VAT to hot food in the mid 80's and then in this term of lousy government tried, and fortunately failed, to introduce the 'pasty tax'.

Anyone who think that Tories are for the everyday working class person is gravely mistaken. Tories are for selfish, greedy, all ready wealthy people and couldn't give a flying f**k about the ordinary working class, of which make up the vast majority of the populous of this nation.

Sooner that this complete no-hoper of a bloke with no real world life or work experience is hoofed clean out of office, the better.

Instead we are paying more and getting less.
Well said, we have to work longer, now he is trying to privatise the NHS that is the thanks we get for paying in so long. They have always upped vat too going right back to John Major. The pension is a pittance anyway and we have been ransacked in this country with services stripped bare meanwhile the E U are demanding another five hundred million as well as what we already pay. There is little evidence of "growth" in Bolton.
Who sold the Gold and who started the PFI scam. Labour!.
Make sure you quote correct facts. PFI was implemented for the first time in 1992 in the UK by the Conservative government of John Major.

Bolton First says...

Not on your side, or by your side, what Cameron really means is like Labour, & Liberals, we will always be on your backs, & in your pockets.
For the rich few, not the working class or pensioners.
Plebs should do what they are told. Who do they think they are?
