AN old nursery school could be turned into a martial arts centre and gym, if plans are approved.

Councillors will vote on Thursday whether to let developers transform the St Germain Nursery School in Farnworth, creating four jobs.

As well as changing the use of the buildings, they are proposing to create a new entrance to the facility in St Germain Street and build a new car park with 20 spaces.

The martial arts centre would only open at 4pm on Monday to Fridays, and between 10am and 1pm on Saturdays.

In an officers report to the councillors, Chris Hobson recommended councillors approve the application at the planning committee.

He wrote: β€œIt is considered that the change of use to a martial arts centre and gymnasium would provide for an efficient use of a vacant site in a sustainable location.”
