THE Conservative ‘obsession’ with fox hunting shows how disconnected they are, a Bolton MP has said.
David Crausby, MP for Bolton North East, blasted the government after Tory MP and environment secretary Elizabeth Truss described the 2004 Hunting Act, which banned hunting with dogs, a “mistake”.
She added a majority Conservative government would hold a vote for it to be repealed.
Mr Crausby said he has always supported measures protecting animals rights.
He said: “It was ten years ago today that the Labour Party finally ended the cruel and inexcusable practice of hunting with dogs and I was pleased to be a part of it.
“Britain is facing a cost of living crisis and people are genuinely struggling. They want to hear politicians debating how to make lives better not saying we should let people rip foxes apart with dogs again.
“This Tory obsession to hold another vote on fox hunting shows just out of touch they are with people’s day to day lives.”
