AFTER a successful first return concert earlier this month, Smithills Senior Brass Band is hoping to make it a double whammy this Saturday with its second of two special performances.
The concerts follow on from the band's most successful American tour of North Carolina by reforming for an audience closer to home.
Aptly named Smithills at the Vic, the band joins a number of other ensembles from Smithills School to perform the concert at the Victoria Hall in Knowsley Street.
Several new members have replaced older players who haft left, and this year there will be a great deal of new music arranged for the bands by Chris Wormald, the Senior Brass Band's founder and musical director for the past 24 years.
The matinee concert begins at 2pm on Saturday, with ticket prices at £6 and £5 for concessions.
To book tickets for either event, call the Albert Halls box office on 01204 334400.
