ADVENTUROUS fundraisers are being invited to sign up for a new challenge to help a children's charity.

MedEquip4Kids, which helps families across the country including a number in Bolton and Westhoughton, is looking for at least 20 teams to take part in its 30 Peaks trek in the Lake District in June 2015.

The event, which marks the charity's 30th anniversary, will see teams take on a two-day trek with 8,707ft of ascent over 35 miles.

The first day of the trek will take place in the eastern Ullswater Fells, while the second will include a 3,117ft hike to the top of Helvellyn, one of the highest mountains in England.

Lily Axworthy, events fundraiser at MedEquip4Kids, said "Thirty Peaks is a unique trek that challenges our supporters to conquer some of the toughest terrain in the UK.

"It's also a great chance for those people who want to take part in a challenge event but who are often put off because of the big price tags associated with international events.

"This trek is perfectly suited to these people as we've tried to keep the costs as low as possible and most people won't even need to take time off work."

Registration costs £160 for a team of four and then MedEquip4Kids asks each team to raise at least £1,600.
