PROPERTIES in Blackrod and surrounding areas were left without water when a pipe burst yesterday morning.
Those living in the BL6 and BL5 area experienced a trickle or no water coming out of the taps.
United Utilities identified the problem as a leak in a field off Station Road, opposite The Rivington Pub, at 9am.
A team of engineers started work repair the burst at 1.32pm and were still working on it into the early evening.
A spokesman for United Utilities said: "Although our engineers managed to reroute water supplies to some of the properties affected, some remained with poor pressure or no water throughout the afternoon while repairs were underway.
"Our repair team were hampered when they needed to collect more pipe to complete repairs."
The water company apologies for any inconvenience and repair work was expected to be completed by tea time yesterday.
