No older person should spend Christmas Day alone if they don’t want to and that’s why the Royal Voluntary Service have joined forces with Community Christmas to help older people who'd otherwise be on their own to find a local event where they can share a celebration.

Community Christmas is a one-stop-shop for older people, their families, friends and carers to search for options to join in on Christmas Day close to home. To find a warm Christmas welcome for yourself or a friend, neighbour or loved one, go to communitychristmas.org.uk or call 0844 4430662.

One such place in Bolton offering older people a hearty meal and free transport on Christmas Day is the Mercury Hotel, in Westhoughton. If you would like some more information on this event you can contact Martin Thompson on 07837 210689.
