A CAR narrowly missed hitting a house after crashing into a bush on a street in Sharples.

The black Vauxhall Corsa hit some bushes outside the house in Templecombe Drive at 9.30pm on Wednesday night, when the wintry weather was in full effect.

Dave Barker, whose bush the car crashed into, did not see what happened, but says it was lucky this accident was not more serious.

Mr Barker, aged 48, said: "I don't know who it was, but the car's obviously hit the curb full on and gone into the bush.

"It's missed my house by a few inches and I'm lucky, really, because this could have been a lot worse.

"I've lived here since 1992 and over the years, I've seen a few accidents on this road.

"It's usually a combination of this being a steep road, and drivers making a misjudgement."

Farnoosh Poorkhataie, Mr Barker's next door neighbour, has also had a car accident take place outside his home, when the bollard at the front of his house was damaged by a car 10 years ago.

Mr Poorkhataie, aged 53, said: "Without the bush, the car would've gone straight into that house. Unfortunately, this sort of occurrence is quite common.

"This road can be dangerous for drivers and people should always take care when driving on it.

"Some people don't even park on this road because of how steep it is."
