THERE is still a yellow weather warning in place for much of Bolton this morning.
The Met Office is warning people to be prepared as a frosty start to the day means there is some ice and snow about still.
Wales and northern areas of England will see snow chiefly over higher ground, with more than five centimetres in places but with some accumulations possible at low levels too.
Ice will be an additional hazard across much of northern Britain and the Met Office is warning the public to be aware of tricky travel conditions and possible disruption to transport.
Problems should reduce steadily throughout the morning, as the March sunshine gets to work on melting the snow.
Today will see a mixture of sunshine and showers but they will be heavy, thundery at times and are likely to be wintry over the hills, with some snowfall accumulations.
It will stay windy with a maximum temperature of six.
The wind and the showers will continue overnight with more snowfall over the hills and to lower levels too, although gradually easing by dawn.
Ice patches could develop on untreated surfaces and the minimum temperature will be 0.
