TODAY'S Looking Back photograph shows Ashworth Lane in Bolton.
This image was taken by a Bolton Evening News photographer in February 1953.
It seems there was a problem in Ashworth Lane as can be seen by the rather muddy road and deep puddles.
Apparently local residents were complaining about the pot holes and the subject was discussed in the "Readers' Views on the News" section of our newspaper back in 1953.
Perhaps you lived in Ashworth Lane at the time. Do you recall the problems you had there?
Do you have any memories of Astley Bridge you would like to share with other readers — particularly memories of the 1950s and 1960s.
If so get in touch with Gayle McBain on 01204 537269 or email gayle.mcbain@nqnw.co.uk and we will print them.
Astley Bridge always elicits a good response from our readers and no doubt today's photograph will be no exception.
It is a fascinating little village with an identity all of its own and one that its residents, new and old, are very fond of and always keen to talk about.
