A TEENAGER was left with broken bones, severe cuts and damaged tendons after falling 20ft from a tree swing onto rocks.

The 13-year-old was left with a fractured left arm and wrist and severe cuts and damaged tendons in his right leg following the incident, which occurred in the Red Rocks area of Moses Gate Country Park shortly before 4.45pm on Thursday.

The boy’s father posted on the Bolton News Facebook page to say his son had undergone two operations on Monday.

He said his son had some numbness in his hand but his veins were badly bruised, so it was a “waiting game” to find out the lasting impact of his injuries.

The man added: “I would like to thank everyone who helped my son on Thursday. There is nothing worse than getting a phone call saying your child is hurt and you’re miles away and can't help!”

A spokesman for North West Ambulance Service confirmed they were called at 4.44pm, with an ambulance taking the teenager to the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital soon after.

While the North West Air Ambulance helicopter was also on the scene, it was not needed.

Bolton Mountain Rescue Team were also called to the incident, but shortly afterwards were informed their services were no longer required.
