THE sounds of Broadway and the West End will be brought to the stage by a cast of talented performers.

Adlington Music and Arts Society will stage Encore 4, a collection of musical highlights, from Monday until Saturday, May 2.

It will feature 36 musical numbers, from shows including The Addams Family, Young Frankenstein, Book of Mormon, Kinky Boots and Ghost.

The production will be on each night at 7.15pm at Adlington Community Centre, Railway Road, and tickets for Saturday have already sold out.

Diane Simmons and Jackie Doherty, along with guest choreographers, have teamed up to produce a mix of musical theatre which promises to be a kaleidoscope of sound, colour and movement.

Diane said: "With nearly 40 musical numbers, from all different shows and with a lot of different choreography — it's been a fantastic team effort.

"It's very difficult but very rewarding.

"We've got very talented people in it.

"This is the fourth Encore that we have done.

"There's a lot of new stuff from new musicals.

"There might be numbers in there that people do not know but they will know of the musicals.

"When we did the first Encore, we did all the best-known ones — Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserables, Miss Saigon."

The cast of 31 has been hard at work rehearsing while the backstage crew builds the set for the latest Encore production.

The first one was held in 2000, to celebrate the millennium.

Diane said: "We have done one every five years since because they are so popular with the cast and audience.

"Each one has been completely different.

"This time, we have got two completely different sets.

"All the numbers have been chosen to fit into one or the other."

Encore 4 is on at Adlington Community Centre, Railway Road, from Monday until Saturday, May 2, at 7.15pm.

Tickets cost £10, call 07799 486 876.
