VOTERS were left queuing out of the doors at a polling station in New Hall Lane, Heaton.

Up to 50 voters were outside on the increasingly chilly spring night at 9.40pm.

They had arrived to make their choice in one of Britain's most marginal seats of Bolton West.

Some said they had come three times earlier in the day and it was equally as busy.

Others reported a shortage of staff inside processing voters.

Conservative candidate for Bolton West Chris Green said: "Perhaps it is this busy because it is such a close race between Labour and the Conservatives.

"Or perhaps because other parties are playing more of a role now."
