THE top of the table still remains tight as Edgworth, Flixton and Walshaw all recorded victories, writes Mikael McKenzie.

Edgworth remain at the summit following a 20-run victory away to Little Hulton.

Pro Chris Read smashed 11 fours and two sixes on his way to 102, and Simon Lord (41) and David Gornall (37) chipped in to post 222-7. Nekoli Parris the most notable bowler taking 3-53.

Parris then turned his hand to the bat and scored 86, and Brian Kelly added 34 but they fell 20 runs short of the target when the final wicket fell – Josh Fallows doing the most damage with the ball taking 3-37.

Daisy Hill faced off against Walshaw in the top-scoring game of the day.

Danny Hornby raced out of the blocks for Walshaw striking 62 inside 10 overs before extending his score to 73 – rather fortuitously after the hosts dropped two simple catches to dismiss him.

Gavin Nicholl came in in third and hit 70 not out as the visitors posted 232-9 – Stephen Hodgkinson (4-44) and Naveed Yousuf (3-56) the notable bowlers.

Adil Ali (42), Yousuf (40) and Hodgkinson (54) staged the reply but brilliant bowling from Tom Murphy (4-61) added to by tight middle-order bowling from Darren Foy (3-59) saw off Daisy’s challenge with 31 runs to spare.

Flixton showed exactly why they are the current Bolton Association champions with an emphatic 10-wicket victory against Winton.

The Salford side opened the batting with Michael Seenan who scored 25, but Luke Perry –Flixton’s top run-scorer – showed he is just as capable with the ball, bowling 5-25. Prenelan Subrayen also took 4-35 as Winton were removed for 111.

Openers Perry (54no) and Adrian Holmes (43no) then set about mauling Winton’s bowlers as they eased their way to victory and sit six points ahead of Walshaw in second place.
