KEEPING it local this weekend are Jesus In India and their mates, who have arranged one of the best showcases of bands from Bolton and nearby you are likely to see this side of August.

The event will take place on Friday at the Soundhouse, and admission is £6, or £4 with a flyer.

Alongside the Jesus boys will be Small Amp, Subjekt and The House band.

Originally a two-man acoustic act, Jesus In India's Dan Moores and Rob Derbyshire "got fed up with nice music and decided to make a racket instead."

Recruiting James Collard on bass and Nick Jackson on drums, they set out with "Prince meets Nirvana" as a blueprint and have played almost everywhere in the North-west it is possible for a band to play.

Four-piece Small Amp have travelled all the way from Blackburn (and are playing at Darwen Library Theatre at 6pm on Friday if you fancy a sneak preview).

Drawing their influences from everyone from The Clash and The Jam through Neil Young and Pink Floyd to Interpol and the Beta Band they are likely to go down well with an indie-orientated Bolton crowd.
