Among many other duties that I perform at Tyldesley Little Theatre, I am responsible for the theatre archives dating back to 1921.

Through this I have become aware of a Leigh playwright and local school teacher, Mr Arnold Helsby.

In October/November 1957, the theatre premiered a comedy written by Mr Helsby. It was called "Sky's the Limit" and was subsequently published by Samuel French Ltd the following year.

Mr Helsby co-directed the show and I have in my possession a script and a programme signed by him.

It turns out that he also taught my mum music at Leigh CofE Secondary Modern in Henrietta Street, between the years of 1951 and 1955!

As the script is now long out of print I was taken with the idea of presenting a 50th anniversary production of the show. It will be presented by Tyldesley Little Theatre from September 25-29, 2007, and was very much hoping that we might be able to contact Mr Helsby's family and offer complimentary tickets to the show.

My mum (Hilda Talbot, in those days!) seems to recall Mr Helsby having a daughter, possibly called Wendy. If anyone can help, please contact me.Do you think you might be able to help us?
