AN exhibition showcasing the best artists from across the North West will be held at a school in Bolton.

Art Showcase will be staged at the Arts Centre at Bolton School on Sunday June 21.

The exhibition will include work by more than 30 artists from across the region, including Bolton

The work is mainly paintings, with some glasswork, and includes oil, water colours and mixed media.

Organisers Val Bradley, Cheryl Acton and Sue Shephard ran a similar event two years ago at the venue.

Mrs Shephard said: “It was very well-received and we were asked by artists and members of the public to put on another one.”

Among the artists showing their work will be freelance artist Mary Rudkin from Horwich.

She has a background in fashion design and textiles, with a strong reputation in landscapes.

David Walters from Chorley works mainly in acrylic on large scale paintings, and Harry Hughes creates traditional watercolours, acrylics, oil pastels and mixed media work in the garden studio of his Bromley Cross home.

At 57, this is Simon Bond’s first exhibition. His animal paintings have been commended in the BBC Wildlife Artist of the Year competition.

And Rosie Rimmer is a self-taught artist from Horwich who uses the surrounding Rivington landscapes as the inspiration for her work.

Mrs Shephard added: “The exhibition allows anyone to own an affordable original work of art — and to appreciate the richness of local artistic talent.”

The exhibition runs from noon to 5pm.

Entrance is £1 with under-16s free.
