A MAN has been found dead at his home in Kearsley.
Michael Foulger, thought to be in his late 40s, was discovered at the flat in Barton Street.
Police, ambulance and fire crew were called to the building in the Ferns Estate around 5.15pm on Saturday after reports of high levels of carbon monoxide in the flats.
A neighbour said: “I didn’t know him as such but I knew of him to say hello to.
“It’s a terrible shame. He seemed a cheery enough bloke whenever I saw him. It’s very sad — it just makes you wonder why?”
“I was just finishing eating my tea when I saw all the police, ambulance and fire service gathering outside.
“There must have been up to 30 different people from services out there.
“We were all evacuated because they said there was high levels of carbon monoxide.
“It was about 8pm before we were left back in we were out there a good few hours.”
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said the incident is not being treated as suspicious and they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the death. The man’s next of kin have been informed.
