LITTER bugs could learn a lesson from these young citizens who demonstrated they love Bolton and hate litter.

Primary schools across Bolton took part in a litter picking day during school for the Love Bolton Hate Litter Day campaign on Tuesday.

All schools were presented with their own litter picking kits consisting of bibs, pickers and bags.

The young littler pickers were keeping Bolton tidy by picking rubbish in and around their schools and local area.

The pupils of St Peter and Paul's RC Primary School in Bolton were cheered on by Pippa Panda.

A Bolton Council spokesman said: "This year is the biggest so far, with 18 schools and a grand total of 1080 pupils taking part in the competition.

"Certificates will be awarded to each school."

He added: "The pupils will also compete against other schools in the area for a challenge cup."
