Ah, the 1990s - a time of Britpop and watching Friends, before Facebook and smartphones.
In Bolton, it was all about the Water Place, Ritzy and meeting your mates outside McDonald's.

1. Met your mates outside McDonald's or on the town hall steps (and usually turned up when you said you would due to lack of mobile phones).
2. Tried your luck getting served for a questionable-looking cocktail in Bergeracs.
3. Bought a pair of trainers from JD Sports (probably Reebok Classics) just so you could get a drawstring carrier bag.
4. Friday nights were spent at the Lads and Girls Club youth club in Bark Street.
5. Went to the under 18s night at Temple on a Friday, pictured - after its heyday - below.
6. Thought it was perfectly normal to stand in your cossie in full view of everyone on the steps to the slide at the Water Place.
7. Struggled to get dressed after going swimming at said Water Place due to Saharan temperatures.
8. Caught the Atlantis bus outside Yates’s...
9. And, once you arrived, was offered the chance to win a ‘free’ makeover photoshoot.
10. Half way through the night, you decamped upstairs to get chips from the diner.
11. Thought that everyone downstairs in Jumpin Jaks was hideously old while you partied the night away in Ikon.

20. Especially with chippy tea on a Friday.
21. Travelled to school on an orange double decker bus, using a Clipper Card.
22. Girls bought Candyfloss lip balm from Boots, Ananya Perfume from the Body Shop and (pointless) hair mascara from Boots.
23. The boys doused themselves in Lynx Africa.
24. Dared your pals to go in Softy’s Hard Stuff.
25. You wanted to get a tattoo at Stef’s.
26. Saw Craig David, Mel C and Louise perform at Radio 1’s One Big Sunday at Moss Bank Park.
27. Or - if you were really lucky - Oasis at the Reebok Stadium. (OK, they were both in summer 2000 but that’s almost the '90s).
28. Pleaded with your parents for a Kappa tracksuit.
29. And a pair of Rockports.
30. All family occasions were celebrated at Smithills Coaching House.
31. Dad had black pudding, steak and kidney pie followed by apple pie and ice cream and an obligatory visit to the cheese table.
32. Mum had prawn cocktail, ladies steak with jacket potato.
33. You probably had fishfingers, chips and peas (but never ate the peas).
34. For a real treat, you went to Tiggis.
35. You wanted all the toys in Boydell's as a child.
36. School trips usually involved the museum and aquarium.
37. Or, if you were heading out of town, Martin Mere nature reserve.
38. Went to a birthday party at Laser Quest.

40. Pulled on your best Ben Sherman shirt (bought from a catalogue) for a night out along Bradshawgate and Nelson Square.
41. Sat on the grey elephants in Newport Street.
42. You were brought up on pasties - be it from Carrs, Greenhalgh's or Ye Olde Pasty Shop.
43. Went to JJB in Walkden and failed a slam dunk at the basketball court.
44. Dined at King Burger on the square (yep, that's right, not Burger King).
45. Acquired a slice of the pitch from Burnden Park when Bolton Wanderers moved to the Reebok Stadium.
46. Messed about on the escalators in Normid.
47. You drank sarsaparilla from a stall in the old Market Hall, you didn't like it and you're still not sure what it is.
48. Spent your weekends partying at Ritzy.
49. Your mind was blown when you heard about Eden nightclub opening - with a swimming pool!
50. You didn't realise one day you'd look back and think, ‘growing up in the '90s in Bolton was great'.
