SAM Allardyce has been warned not to even think of stripping Wanderers of their prized assets, if he gets another management job.
Newcastle United are hotly-tipped to make a move for the former Whites boss, who quit the Reebok on Sunday after seven and a half years of soaraway success.
One newspaper claimed to know the day when he will be appointed to replace current Magpies' boss Glenn Roeder - Monday, May 14, the day after the last game of the season.
Wherever he goes, he will receive a frosty reception from his former employers, if he attempts to poach players or staff from the Reebok.
New boss Sammy Lee made light of the suggestion yesterday, but there was a serious message behind the humour.
"I hope he does because it would be an indication of the quality of staff that we've got here, but equally I'd hope he'd get the door shut in his face," he said, laughing.
"I'm fully aware of the quality of people we've got here working for us and we would like to show our appreciation by keeping the best staff that we have."
