ALLEGATIONS that money has gone missing from a Conservative club will be discussed at a special meeting.

An extraordinary meeting of Little Lever Conservative Club will be held on Tuesday after being demanded by club members in a signed letter.

Club president Cllr Mary Woodward confirmed there had been allegations through "tittle tattle" that money had disappeared.

Cllr Woodward refused to confirm the exact sum of money that was alleged to be missing but said there was no evidence that any cash had gone missing, saying she believed a "clash of personality" had resulted in the claims.

"There has been an internal argument between a couple of people," said Cllr Woodward.

"We will look at what evidence they have got because as far as we can see, they have not got any.

"We have looked through the books and I'm satisfied the accounts are in order.

"At the moment this is just rumour."

Cllr Woodward said an extraordinary meeting must take place if demanded by at least 21 club members.

She added: "The aim is to bring it all out into the open and quash all the rumours that are going around.

"We need to get this sorted out."

Police have not been formed of the allegations.
