A BOLTON Euro MP has voted against EU farm subsidies funding bull fighting.

Paul Nuttall, UKIP's deputy leader said: “This is barbaric cruelty which does not deserve to be called a sport of any sort. It is an outrage that £13.5 million a year of British taxpayers money goes to Spain’s farmers to rear bulls to be publicly slaughtered in the ring.

“I am glad that a motion has been put forward to axe EU funding for this and I and my UKIP colleagues will be voting for this,” said Mr Nuttall, deputy UKIP leader.

“A total of £100 million is spent by Brussels on these subsidies through the Common Agriculture Policy which is disgraceful waste of funds, though of course the EU specialises in that.

“Even the majority of Spaniards are now opposed to bull fighting, which has no place in modern society. We used to have bear-baiting in this country but no one would think that acceptable nowadays,” he said."
