Thirteen people have been given injunctions forbidding them to enter specific areas, possess items including a bat or contact certain individuals after a series of violent incidents.

A total of 11 people, from Little Hulton, and two, of no fixed address, are subject to a series of conditions.

The interim civil injunctions include preventing the individuals being in possession of a bat, hammer, wooden stick or knife and prohibiting conduct that causes or is likely to cause, harassment, alarm or distress to any person.

They also prohibit the individuals from contacting or associating with each other within the Greater Manchester area.

It is part of GMP's crackdown on the gang rivalry that led to a series of shootings on Bolton's borders.

On October 5, a 34-year-old man was shot three times in torso at a house in Gorse Drive, Little Hulton, for which a man has been arrested for attempted murder.

Five days later a 48-year-old man was hit in the back by a bullet fired through the window of Mossbrook Drive, Little Hulton.

The same day bullets were fired through the windows of properties in Coniston Avenue, Little Hulton, and Worsley Road, Farnworth, although no-one was injured.

Superintendent Mary Doyle of Salford division said: “These injunctions come after a series of violent incidents in Salford that we are determined to put a stop to.

“This is the first time that GMP has applied for these civil orders in Salford and this is just one of the ways that we are working to make our community a safer place to live.

“We need the community to pull together and tell us if any of these interim injunctions are breached, so we can take swift action.

“I want to remind people that they can come and speak to our officers, but if they don’t feel that they can do this, they can call Crimestoppers and remain completely anonymous.”

The interim civil injunctions are in force while officers apply for injunctions under the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014. It is the first time this power has been invoked in Salford division.

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
