SECURITY footage of a "brutal and unprovoked attack" in which a trio of revellers attacked and robbed a lone man has been released.

Police want to trace three men in these CCTV stills in connection with the assault six weeks ago in All Saints Street in Bolton town centre.

PC Timothy Abernethy said: "This was brutal and unprovoked attack that has left a man with serious bruising, swelling and a broken jaw.

"We have images of three men we want to speak to and I hope there is someone out there who can recognise and identify them to us.

"Similarly, if you were in the area at the time of the attack and believe you can assist our investigation, please do not hesitate to contact us."

A group of four men left a bar in Bradshawgate shortly before 4am on October 10 and waited outside.

A second group of men exited the same venue and a fight broke out between the two sets of revellers.

The first group left Bradshawgate and walked along All Saints Street where they confronted a man who was on his own.

Three of the group, all white and aged between 25 and 30, launched themselves at him.

They rained kicks and punches down on his head and face before stealing his mobile phone and running off.

The first suspect was of medium build and had tattoos on both arms and short dark hair.

He wore a red T-shirt with a white trim on the sleeve and blue jeans.

The second suspect was of medium to large build and bore a short hairstyle.

He was wearing a T-shirt with blue sleeves and a white trim, a grey chest and shoulders and a cream lower part.

The third suspect was of slim to medium build. His clothing consisted of a black shirt which has been buttoned up to the top, black trousers and white trainers.
