TWO girls were captured on video allegedly hurling abuse and intimidating a passenger at Bolton Bus Station.

A bystander recorded the clip of the females - one spouting obscenities - shouting aggressively at a man sat down.

Thousands have watched the footage on Facebook that shows the pair remonstrating with the victim and throwing accusations at him.

Police announced this afternoon, Tuesday, January 5, that they had arrested two girls, aged 15 and 16, on suspicion of assault following the incident.

Both have been held in police custody.

Bolton Police appealed for witnesses to the incident at 8pm on Monday, December 4, at the transport hub in Moor Lane in Bolton town centre.

The Bolton News:

Inspector Dave Henthorne, of Bolton South and Central Integrated Neighbourhood Policing Team, said:

“We were made aware earlier today of a video circulating on social media and launched an investigation to identify the man in the video and also the two girls.

“There has been a huge amount of speculation on social media about the circumstances surrounding this video. We are currently speaking with the two girls to establish what exactly has taken place and we would ask people to now allow this investigation to continue.

“There were a number of other people in the bus station at the time and we are very keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed this encounter, so we can find out the full circumstances including what happened before and after the video started.

“We are still making enquiries to identify the man in the video and we have not received a complaint from him."

Howard Hartley, Transport for Greater Manchester's Head of Bus, said: "We will do everything we can to support Greater Manchester Police in relation to this matter and would ask anyone with any information to report it to GMP as soon as possible."

The sound on this video has been edited to remove obscenities and other material we are unable to print.

Anyone with information should call police on 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
