WHILE a draw against non-league opposition wasn’t exactly what the Whites were hoping for, one fan more than most seemed happy enough for Wanderers to earn an FA Cup third round replay.

With time running out, the 1,000 plus Whites fans who’d embarked on the 460 mile round trip to non-league Eastleigh were beginning to think they were watching yet another low point of their miserable season so far.

Eastleigh - the lowest ranked team left in the cup – had taken the lead just after half time through a Dorian Dervite own goal and continued to create chances on a rain-soaked and mud-caked pitch.

But with only minutes left, Darren Pratley managed to bundle in a goal that meant the beleaguered club live to fight another day in the competition.

At one end of Eastleigh’s diminutive Ten Acres ground, one Whites fan, overcome with joy (or relief), managed to access the television camera gantry and lead Whites fans in a singalong of Vindaloo/My Darlin’ Clementine, with the refrain of ‘Bolton!’

“When Bolton scored the equaliser I looked up and noticed him celebrating on the scaffolding. He was getting the fans going, it was brilliant, so I just started recording him,” said travelling Whites fan and Egerton resident, Kieron Wilson.

Kieron’s video soon went viral among fans, with 577 re-tweets and 423 likes on Twitter.

The Bolton News:

Kieron, 26, flew down with five friends from Manchester to Southampton in order to watch the match, before getting the train back.

He was among those who were resigned to thinking that the antics of a second half pitch invader would be the highlight of their day.

“I walked out the door at 6:30am on Saturday morning and got home at 1am Sunday morning. It was a very long day,” said the Egerton resident.

“We didn't deserve anything from the game in my opinion. I thought Eastleigh were very unlucky to be honest.

“The pitch was dreadful but that's an easy excuse, it was the same for both sides.

“The pitch invader actually came very close to scoring against us, which isn't hard at the minute.

“I will be going to the replay, hopefully we can progress to the 4th round and draw a big premiership team away, as we need as much money as we can at the moment.

“Sheffield United got £1 million on Saturday for playing Manchester United. We could do with that.”
