THE weekend's snowy weather may have cleared but we delved into the archives to find snow scenes of yesteryear. 

From a snow woman in Westhoughton - modelled on country singer Dolly Parton - to a giant snowman in Horwich, there are fantastic photographs galore from years gone by.

Back to 2016 and the forecast for the rest of the week is snow free for most areas. It will be mostly dry overnight with cloudy skies persisting, though temperatures are set to drop into negative figures with frost and risk of icy patches and lows of -2°C.

The mostly dry weather will persist into Tuesday, with a few brighter breaks into the afternoon. There may be the odd flurry of snow on the hills. Maximum temperature of 3°C.

It will be largely dry throughout Wednesday and Thursday, with the best of the winter sunshine on Thursday, before a band of rain pushes in from the west on Friday.
