FARNWORTH pupils turned into warriors for a day as they learned about Vikings.
The year five class at Highfield primary school donned horned helmets and fur-lined clothes that they had created for the day, while brandishing swords as they were taught about the North Sea raiders.
The teachers also dressed up for the occasion, which featured a visit from Russ Scott from Traders, Invaders and Raiders, who brought in a model Viking long boat for the youngsters to explore.
Deputy head Debora Helme said: "We like to allow the children to experience the topics through visits or rather than just read about it in books. Throughout the day they made coins and even had look at a Viking long boat.
"The project was all about bringing to life something that died many years ago. The children did a fantastic job of making authentic costumes to wear, which showed real imagination. The teachers got involved too, playing royalty and servants. Everyone had a fantastic day."
